From celebrities being threatened for liking tweets about democracy, to ravaging entire ethnicities in Tibet and Xinjiang, as well as forsaking a semi-democratic Hong Kong, the world has enabled China into becoming an imperialist stronghold where it could choose to destroy lives thousands of kilometers away from its borders for their own gain.

It is important the world becomes aware of their growing grasp into our own lives from owning our country’s telecommunications, surveillance, power lines, and other big industries as well as loophole contracts that could plunge nations, including the Philippines, into debt with the chauvinistic Chinese, as well as censoring even foreigners from their basic right to free speech.

The crimes they have against our country are plenty. Aside from disrespecting the Philippines’ and other Southeast Asian countries’ sovereignty in the “South China Sea”, they have raped a lot of our natural resources such as sand mining in Zambales, chromite mining in Homonhon Island, the ever-controversial Kaliwa Dam, the Chico River Pump Irrigation Project, and constructing military bases & excavation expeditions within Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone in the West Philippine Sea.

Much worse, the Duterte administration enables such behavior, even constantly deferring to China to sponsor our country’s “Build-Build-Build” program, a desperate attempt to build our way out of our economic woes but alas a trap for debt and criminal activity at the expense of the people’s money and labor.

The fact that they can even dictate large corporations and leader nations on whose lives matter and whose don’t should be a warning siren that our own leaders should act with urgency and vigilance against their tyranny.

Andres Bonifacio and the KKK revolution of the Philippines fought back against our colonialist rulers despite being helplessly outnumbered in arms. In the same light, we too must carry the same spirit of revolution into our own times.
