A fire hit to over 40 households in Brgy. Junob, Dumaguete yesterday afternoon amid threats of COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Sanguniang Kabataan of Baranggay Junob, over 50 families were affected and are homeless. Others are now staying at Junob Evacuation Center while others remain at the area where the fire incident happened.
SK added that the fire fighters have difficulty in containing the fire because of tight alleyways that create trouble for the fire trucks to go near the area.
The Bureau of Fire Proection (BFP) said that fire started around 1:15 and declared fire out 4:00pm on the same day. The incident raised to alarm level 2.
BFP are still investigating the cause of the fire.
The local officials of Barangay Junob is still looking for funds that will be used for relief operations.
While the Local Government Unit of Dumaguete City announced that victims whose homes are “totally damaged” will receive P 10,000; P5,000 for the “partially damaged”; and P2,500 for the renters.
