Human Rights Advocates Negros (HRAN) held a liturgical service on Friday, August 29, in front of the Negros Occidental District Jail to mark what they called the triumph of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in their protest.

The symbolic gathering followed Thursday’s protest where PDLs inside the facility demanded the removal of their warden and reforms on food allocation and the cashless system.

The action resulted in the relief of Jail Warden Atty. Crisyrel Awe and the appointment of Jail Senior Inspector Raymund Aro as officer-in-charge.
